Emilio (scientist) and Sophie (artist) are happily married. His focus on work leads him to neglect their relationship. On their anniversary, Emilio receives a promotion and completely forgets their plans. After work, he suddenly remembers and, feeling tired and guilty, waits for Sophie in the park. When she finally arrives, she collapses right in front of him, and the doctors cannot help her. She falls into a coma. Full of guilt, Emilio devotes himself to finding a cure. Over the years, he dives deeper and deeper into his research until he can no longer separate reality from dreams. His memories of Sophie become mixed with his visions and reality slowly starts to slip away.  Exhausted and hopeless, he considers ending his life. But at the last moment, he has a groundbreaking idea for a possible cure. With his last bit of strength, he creates the medicine, but instead of helping Sophie, it only makes her condition worse, and she dies. .
